This is a bit late, but I suppose it's better late than never. This is my second time at Alpine, but it's becoming one of my favorite resort in Tahoe. The worst thing about the whole resort is the entrance where visitors may have to put on chains. Considering the weather, skiing or snowboarding in most resorts at Tahoe should be good, but I am not sure how many resorts can offer what Alpine's backside (Sherwood) provided. It's definitely not for beginners since much of the backsides were not groomed trails. The only way to get to it is by going up Summit Chair and hiking up. The hike was a bit taxing, but it was well worth the effort. It was steep, covered with powder, and much of the slopes were not tracked at all. -Michael
