Details:
Strange weather: Nevada side in fog with occasional flurries most of the day, Calif. high overcast, but clear visibility across the lake. Thus Sky was already busy when we got there at 9:30AM. Surface was packed powder and chopped powder with an inch of new everywhere in Nevada, and on upper half of Calif. At 2:30PM we went over to ski Gunbarrel: nice well-spaced bumps, packed on top, slushy at the bottom. The Patsy's/Groove beginner area was a disaster of slick snow and downed bodies everywhere; if there's a worse place to learn skiing or boarding, I haven't seen it. Mott's/Killebrew was the opposite extreme: great snow, very few people, and good visibility in the trees despite the weather.
