Colorado Ski Country USA resorts embraced the latest snowstorm to sweep through the state, welcoming April snow showers that picked up where a snow-laden March left off. The ongoing snowfall enabled several Colorado resorts to re-open recently on select weekends after their official closing dates, and the past couple of days have left further powder deposits for guests to enjoy.

The fresh April powder gives visitors a great excuse to head to the high country for the final weeks of the season. Colorado is known for having one of the longest ski seasons in the country, and once again Mother Nature has yielded an opportunity for guests to ski through June.

The latest storm dropped up to a foot of new snow at resorts throughout the state over the past 48 hours. In the west, Aspen Highlands was left with 13 inches, Aspen Mountain with 8 inches, while Snowmass led the Aspen resorts with 14 new inches. Steamboat reported 2 inches, and in the south, Silverton’s final celebration for the season will be complemented by a fresh 14 inches.

Monarch amassed great snow from the storm, peaking at 11 inches over 48 hours, while resorts closest to the Front Range finished off the tail end of the storm with Eldora stacking up 5 inches, Arapahoe Basin 4 inches, Loveland 3.5 inches, Winter Park 2.5 inches and Copper Mountain 2 inches.

The forecast anticipates more light snow showers for the coming weekend, during which several more resorts will finish their seasons. Each will close down the 2012-13 year with guest-friendly events, which can be found here.

Below is a list of the Colorado Ski Country USA resorts that are still open, along with their respective closing dates. Guests can also visit the full snow report, which is updated by the resorts themselves, at www.ColoradoSki.com/snow-report.

Homewood announces Tahoe’s most beautiful 2013-14 season pass prices
Homewood’s $699 Family Pass is an unbeatable value, and the new Heritage 3 Generations Pass celebrates those families who’ve made skiing or snowboarding a tradition for multiple generations.

HOMEWOOD, CA (March 31, 2013) – Homewood Mountain Resort, located mere steps from Lake Tahoe’s west shore, has long been known as Tahoe’s most beautiful resort. Now, with the release of 2013-14 season pass prices, locals and visitors alike will come to know Homewood as Tahoe’s best season pass value as well.

“Homewood is proud to be known as one of the friendliest Lake Tahoe resorts for families, and we’re pleased to continue that legacy with outstanding deals on family-oriented passes,” said Paul Raymore, Homewood’s marketing director. “What’s less well known is how uncrowded Homewood can be, even on the busiest holiday weekends, which makes our no-blackout season passes a phenomenal value for individuals, couples, and groups of friends looking to avoid the crowds that can sometimes be found at other resorts.”

All 2013-14 Homewood season passes offer unlimited skiing and snowboarding, with no blackout dates whatsoever, making it easy for skiers and snowboarders to get the full value out of their pass in just one ski holiday.

2013-14 Homewood season pass prices
Adult (19-61): $359
Adult (19-61) local employee: $299*
Teen (13-18): $309
Child (5-12): $119
Senior (62-69): $239
Super Senior (70+): $209
Family Pass: $799
Family Pass for local employee: $699*
Heritage 3 Generations Pass: $1,099

Homewood celebrates families with affordable family pass options
After launching to enormous success and popularity last season, Homewood is excited to once again offer its Family Season Pass – two adults and two children/teens receive unlimited access for just $799, a potential savings of over $500 per family. And local working families get an even bigger discount, with $699 Family Passes available to adults who can show a paystub from a Tahoe Basin or Truckee employer.

New for the 2013-14 season, the Heritage 3 Generations Pass is designed to celebrate those families that have been enjoying the slopes for three full generations. For the low price of $1,099, the Heritage 3 Generations Pass includes unlimited access for two seniors/super seniors, two adults and two teens/children – six passes in total and a potential savings of more than $700 per family.

$99 down payment option
Homewood’s $99 down payment option allows skiers or snowboarders to lock in the lowest rate on their 2013-14 season pass and pay the balance in October. Family Pass and Heritage 3 Generations Pass buyers can do the same with a $199 down payment. Both options are available online in Homewood’s season pass eStore through May 31, 2013 only.

Buy before May 31 for extra buddy passes
As an added perk to those willing to buy early, Homewood will include three “buddy pass” coupons worth 30% off the price of a lift ticket for a friend or family member with every Adult, Senior and Super Senior pass purchase or down payment before May 31, 2013. And returning 2012-13 Homewood season pass holders will receive double the number of buddy pass coupons as a thank-you for their loyalty.

Bonus privileges
All Homewood passes also come with unlimited privileges at Red Lodge Mountain Resort in Montana, and five days of lift access at Whitefish Mountain Resort, also in Montana. Additionally, Homewood season pass holders enjoy discounts on food and beverage purchases, rentals and retail items.

For full details on all of Homewood’s season pass options, visit SkiHomewood.com/SeasonPasses or call (530) 525-2992.

* Local employees must show current paystub from local employer to qualify

Journalists around the region are talking about what a great season we’re having here, here and here, and we agree. Temps have remained cool since last week’s storm system blanketed the state with feet of powder so there is plenty of coverage, some snow in the forecast and maybe some sunshine to start working on springtime goggle tans.

Denver, Colo. – March 22, 2013 – The state’s typically snowiest month continued in Colorado with a spring storm that left copious amounts of new snow at virtually all Colorado Ski Country USA resorts. Thanks to the storm that is sweeping through the state, many guests on Spring Break will have the chance to enjoy fresh powder, and with more snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, it serves as a timely reminder that the 2012/13 ski season is not ready to be over.

Past 48-hour snow accumulations have ignited the spring skiing buzz throughout the state. Along the Front Range and I-70 corridor, Copper Mountain topped out totals with 10 inches, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland and Winter Park all received 9 inches, and Eldora – expected to benefit from continued snowfall – also managed a new inch overnight. Of the central mountain resorts, Crested Butte was left with 10 inches, Monarch 9 inches, while Ski Cooper’s guests were greeted with 8 fresh inches this morning.

Further west, the four Aspen resorts ranged from 8 inches at Buttermilk to 11 inches at Aspen Highlands. Aspen Mountain and Snowmass each received 10 inches. Further up the road, Sunlight received 5.5 inches of new snow, while to the north Steamboat saw 7 inches. Out west perched by the Grand Mesa, Powderhorn logged a solid half foot.

In the Southwest, Silverton also received a half foot, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort 5 inches, and Telluride and Wolf Creek felt 4 and 3 inches respectively.

The new snow, with more anticipated for the upcoming weekend, has arrived at the perfect time. Spring brings a flurry of events and activities to resorts, and complemented with fresh snow, gives guests the opportunity to finish out the last months of the Colorado ski season in gusto. More information about Colorado Ski Country resort events can be found here, while guests can visit the full snow report, which is updated by the resorts themselves, at www.ColoradoSki.com/snow-report.

Buy Now, Save Now!
Purchasing a 2013-14 Season Pass now allows guests to ski or ride the rest of the 2012-13 season. Guests can “try before they buy” by purchasing a lift ticket for the day and turning it in at the end of the day for credit toward a 2013-14 season pass.

With plenty of season left to enjoy, new passholders can experience springtime at Sierra Resort with a Corona and fish taco at the Baja Grill, spring snow, sunshine, and entertaining Spring Fiesta events. Skiers and riders are sure to leave with great memories, good friends, possibly a goggle tan, and excitement about the 2013-14 season.
