$29 Skiing for Schools
To support local schools, various resorts donate some or all proceeds from a limited quantity of discounted tickets to the Excellence in Education Foundation. You can pre-purchase them the week before at Porter's Ski Shops. You should call first to confirm availability. Alpine tickets will be available on-site -- no prepurchase necessary. Squaw will pre-sell their tickets on their website beginning Dec. 1. Dates are: Squaw 12/16, Sugar Bowl 12/22 and 3/22, Northstar 1/6, Homewood and Alpine 4/1. Dates will also be listed on our calendar.

Support the Sierra Avalanche Center (which provides valuable snowpack stability info for backcountry travelers) by skiing inbounds for cheap! Must pre-purchase through the link on their website. Dates: 1/6 - Kirkwood, 1/13 - Northstar, 2/13 - Mt. Rose, 3/2 - Homewood, 3/7 - Sugar Bowl, 3/30 - Alpine. (Limited quantities, so check back a few weeks before each date and order early!)

Pre-purchase lift tickets at any of the 4 Bay Area Sports Basement locations. Sugar Bowl tickets for ages 23-59 must be upgraded ($10) to be used during their holiday dates: 12/26-1/1, 1/19-21, 2/16-18.

Starting Dec 1, REI members ($15 for lifetime membership) can prepurchase discounted lift tickets at any of their Bay Area stores. You should call first to confirm availability. Northstar/Sierra tickets can also be exchanged for adult beginner ski or snowboard packages ($94-$104 value!) or can be used as a $75 credit towards children's lesson packages. Cannot be used for a Parent Predicament ticket. When used at Sierra as a lift ticket, you also get a $7 food/rentals/services voucher. Sugar Bowl tickets must be upgraded ($10) to be used during their holiday dates: 12/26-1/1, 1/19-21, 2/16-18.

$49.99 for Gold Tahoe Card (w/ Sugarwood lift ticket), $39.99 for Silver (w/ free rentals & tune-ups), $19.99 for Basic (just lift ticket discounts). Gold Card available at participating Nor Cal/Nevada Costco locations for $39.99. The Sugarwood ticket is valid early/late season at Sugar Bowl or Kirkwood (also good Mon-Thu non-holiday). All cards include entitle you to lift ticket discounts obtained either through pre-purchasing "e-tickets" on-line, or at some resorts (Boreal, Dodge Ridge, Northstar, Sierra, Sierra Summit) by simply showing card. Squaw e-tickets valid *any day* including holidays! Northstar/Sierra discounts ($10) only available Mon-Fri, non-holiday. Mt. Rose and Diamond Peak discounts only available non-holiday. Otherwise, prices listed here are for holiday/weekend rates. Prices even cheaper for non-holiday tickets for Bear Valley ($37 Mon-Fri), Diamond Peak ($33 Mon-Fri), Homewood ($37 Mon-Thu), Kirkwood ($54 Mon-Thu), Sugar Bowl ($53). Gold/Silver Cards include: $10 non-holiday lift ticket to Diamond Peak, a 2-for-1 M-F non-holiday ticket at Homewood; $10 non-holiday lift ticket for Sierra Summit; FREE ticket to Tahoe XC; several free tune-ups and rental packages from various ski/board shops; Food freebies; Lodging and other discounts. Check the site for all the extras, along with the various restrictions. All orders include 1-year subscription to your choice of Skiing or Transworld Snowboarding Magazine. You can get a refund if you don't want the subscription or already have one.

$60 Ski Tahoe North Interchangeable Lift Ticket
Buy a 3-7 day pack of vouchers that are good at any of the North Lake Tahoe downhill reports. This is an excellent discount anytime for Northstar and Squaw, and during holidays, Sugar Bowl and Alpine too. However if you use it at Homewood or Diamond Peak, you've paid too much. Also, there are usually cheaper ways to ski cheap at Mt. Rose. What's good is that they don't have to be used on consecutive days, and they can be shared! $5 shipping by USPS (allow 1 week) or you can have them hold them for pickup at the Visitors Information Center in Tahoe City for no charge.

$83-$99 gets you a bus ride and lift ticket. $42 for bus-ride only. Prices vary by destination. $4 early booking discount for first 25 sign-ups for each bus. Pickups vary by trip: SFSU, UCB, UCD, Sac State, Milpitas, Redwood City, El Cerrito, Pleasanton. Specific prices and dates at the link, or on our calendar (coming soon). $99 (Heavenly +$10; Squaw +$15) buys you a ride up to and back from the resort on a luxury bus (no dealing with driving, or worse still, chains), a lift ticket for Alpine, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar, Sierra, Squaw, or Sugar Bowl, continental breakfast and apres-ski drink/snack. $59 bus ride only. Convenient pick-ups in Belmont, Oakland, Pleasanton, SF, Sunnyvale and Walnut Creek. San Rafael pick-ups available Saturdays only, unless demand warrants.
