*Squaw Valley Nissan Tram Face Competition!
The world's best freeriders are looking to make history on Squaw Valley USA's most visible yet permanently closed peak during the Nissan Tram Face competition on February 27, 2010. Its steep and seemingly un-skiable pitch, permanent closure, and tantalizing location in perfect view from Squaw Valley’s Village and base area have made it a coveted descent among the strong local freeride community. Several of the top American riders are from Squaw Valley including Jermey Jones, J.T. Holmes, Tim Dutton, Cody Townsend, Elyse Saugstad and Will Brommelsiek.

Tahoe is known for having the best ski and snowboard weather anywhere on the planet. Just ask the California skiers who venture out to Colorado for fresh powder, only to find out that light pow, comes with sub-zero temperatures that will freeze a car door shut for days on end.
Face it, dear readers. We are spoiled by large Pacific storms that dump three, four, (ten) feet of snow, followed by sunshine and 40 and 50 degrees temperatures.
With an El Nino winter, comes an even more powerful El Nino spring. That means the best skiing and riding are forecast ahead, not behind. March and April are the favorite months for the SOTC Crews. The sun shines bright, the days stretch on forever, holiday lift ticket black-outs are gone, and the resorts drop a plethora of fantastic ticket, and lodging deals right into our laps.
Plan a Tahoe ski vacation in January? I don't think so! We're just getting to the best part of the season, and if you doubt that, check the snow totals, and yes, the deals on the SOTC newsletter this week.
Spring Passes, Bonus Mondays, 2-Fer days, Shop Tickets, Ski and Stay Free; it's all coming down now for the smart winter sports shopper!
"When should I buy ski and snowboard gear?" I always say that March is one of the best months. Skis and boots will go on 50% off (or more) sales, and you still have more than six weeks of winter to enjoy that new gear. Say "Demo Gear" to any member of our Crew, and you will instantly see drool running down the front of that Spyder Parka, (we bought at 80% off during the Labor Day Sales.) I buy my skis during the demo ski sales, where you will find top line equipment for up to 75% off. We also love Sports Basement. Use the SOTC discount at checkout to score another 10% off the sale prices, or, SBSLIDE st http://www.sportsbasement.com.
March is on the way, dear sliders. Get excited. The best of the ski and snowboard season is just around the corner!
