 |
Hello Sliders!
If you're not planning a trip to Tahoe over the next ten days, you're missing out on one fantastic holiday and ski week experience. We've got just about double the amount of snow on the slopes as this time last year, and Mike Pechner says the weather could be near perfect, at least through mid next week with temperatures reaching into the low 40s.
*The Skinny
Just cause it's President's holiday, doesn't mean there are no deals available. In fact, in addition to the regular Quad Paks, Sports Basement, Costco and Internet lift ticket discounts, we've got some FANTASTIC deals ramping up this week.
Squaw Valley is offering two for one tickets to friends of pass-holders, Kirkwood is launching a midwinter season pass deal that's almost impossible to pass up during an El Nino winter, and we're knee-deep in other deals and events.
The SOTC Crew is nearly worn to the bone this winter, keeping up with the plethora of new deals, and trying to carve up the endless fresh Pow. Join us in Lake Tahoe this weekend, and during Ski Week for an awesome ski and snowboard experience.
*Facebook
Yeah. That's it. Facebook. Get the latest Crew discount skinny and deals, checkout our daily photos and feel free to engage the Crew in discussion on any topic, short of string theory. Become our Fan! We've got more than 2,000 slobbering cheap ski and snowboard fans and we can always use more. Ping us on Facebook, and we'll make sure to give you the best inside local's skinny on Tahoe.

The holidays can be a hassle, especially if you've got a spouse, couple of kids and golden retriever in tow. You probably find yourself dreaming of the good old days; driving up to Lake Tahoe in the carpet-lined panel van, Led Zeppelin blasting out through the speakers and big pow on your mind. Your wallet is bulging with $25 in food money that would easily last you three days.
Now, you've got to fill up that monster SUV, tote four pair of skis, or boards to the mountain, and that $25 will just about cover the cost of valet parking. (Well worth the cost, if you are in fact, humping four pair of skis through the parking lot.)
It's easy to justify sitting on the couch for the weekend, loading that Netflicks DVD in the player and simply tuning-out ten feet of packed powder with excuses that are more than likely, highly justifiable.
Remember, regardless of the cost and hassle of loading the crew into the SUV, that day watching some second rate DVD can never be replaced at ANY cost.
And by the way, wasn't that your dad, humping your skis over the parking lot well before the panel van days? My dad was, and I'm sure he wondered many a time, if it wouldn't have been easier to just leave the skis in the garage and read the paper. Thankfully, he never did. No matter how late he got home from work on Friday night, we loaded up the car and hit Interstate 80 for a weekend of family fun.
It's going to be a great weekend, sliders. Don't let it slip away into oblivion. Use http://www.slidingonthecheap.com to find a deal that works for your family. Brew up that extra pot of coffee Friday night and get those skis into the car and charge up that video camera. You'll take back memories you'll have forever, your body will thank you for the fresh air and exercise, and you are giving your kids, your spouse, even your golden retriever a weekend they will never forget. Join us in Lake Tahoe, and stash that DVD for another day!
