As a PSIA Certified Instructor, the number one issue I deal with is skiers telling me they can't seem to improve beyond a specific skill level. Most fall into a category of, "I can ski most blue intermediate slopes, but I just never seem to move beyond these groomed slopes."
It reminds me a bit of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, where he simply repeats the same day over and over again, seemingly for eternity, or until the movie ends.
For many skiers and riders, Groundhog Day is their reality. Every season, they end up skiing the same groomed slopes, often times sharing them with a million others, afflicted by the same problem.
The solution for you, dear reader, is taking a ski or snowboard lesson. I'm always amazed when one or two suggestions can help a skier move from Blue to Black terrain, help them realize a life-long dream, or out-ski their spouse or kids.
Two resorts have made this dream easier than ever to achieve. Northstar and Sugar Bowl.
Sugar Bowl is now offering General Admission daily. That means with every lift ticket purchase, you receive FREE rentals and LESSONS.
Northstar offers FREE lessons for Intermediates and above Monday- Friday.
There are also a number of Woman's Specific clinics offered by Northstar, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and more. While these are not free, or included with a lift ticket purchase, they can make a world of difference in improving your skills...and yes, whipping your spouse down the slope, and doing it with a smile!
If you're ski vacations, or weekends are beginning to feel like Groundhog Day, the solution might be taking a ski or snowboard lesson. When the lessons are free, you've got nothing to lose, so what are you waiting for!
