Hello Sliders!
Can it be true? Winter coming back next week? According to KCBS and SOTC meteorologist, Mike Pechner, that is looking highly probable. Snow starting on Thursday and rolling right into Sunday. The start looks wet, good for base but will end as light POW as the cold air blankets the high Sierra.
*What Does That Mean, You Ask?
That means a lot of the great deals will end including a one month pass from Bear Valley valid January 13th-February 13th for just $99.00.
*Are You Skiing/Riding Free?
You might be courtesy of Sierra-at-Tahoe. Check the Sierra section below to see if you've won a free lift ticket!
*20% Off At Sports Basement!
That's right. Sports Basement is having a 20% off (most) everything in store right now, until it snows. Take the lowest marked price, walk up to the register and ask for your 20% SOTC discount. Load up sliders, cause it's gonna snow, then you'll want that new gear...don't wait. Details below.
*Yeah, and the Internet Too!
Most folks know we get some killer sales at Sports Basement, for the local shoppers, but it's rare for the Internet audience.
The 20% deal is also VALID FOR ALL INTERNET PURCHASES!

*The Skinny
Okay, we've got the MLK weekend ahead Normally the resorts would be packed to the gills, but you can expect to find light crowds at all major resorts, and with colder temperatures the last couple of days, there's a fresh coat of manmade at most resorts, and that will continue right into the weekend.
*Who Has Snow?
Heavenly, Squaw/Alpine, Northstar, Diamond Peak, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Boreal & Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe. If you head up to Lake Tahoe this holiday, you'll find good skiing/riding, regardless of what your local expert might say.
*What's Rocking?
The Parks. Northstar, Boreal, Heavenly, Squaw, Rose all have great terrain parks, and they are in awesome condition. Drop in and have some fun with the SOTC CREW.
*The Groom
With fresh snowmaking, the groom is working all Tahoe area resorts. Check to see who is making snow, and we listed a few above. The cold temperatures will just serve to freshen everything up, and next week we could be in a whole new ball game.
*Groom Carving Clinic?
Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe is having a Germanfest on Saturday with specials on beers & brats and some ski carving clinics! Free with pass, but only $19 plus ticket without! We Like!
*Learn to Ski/Ride
Yes, of course...what a great idea. With awesome weather comes awesome learning and fun conditions for first timer beginners, and kids...and those slopes are near perfect for learning right now. We have a host of Learn to ski/ride deals, including (lovely) Squaw Valley for $69 this month, Mt. Rose has the same and Diamond Peak, Boreal and Sugar Bowl all have great value programs.
*Weather Pattern Change? Mike Pechner Says....
"It is nice to see most of the forecast models on the same track with the pattern change for late next week and it couldn't come soon enough. Temperatures were gradually cool over the weekend with mostly cloudy skies Sunday as the first weak front passes. the main event starts Thursday and could continue through the weekend bringing the promise of new freshies being measured in feet and not inches. "
"Right now it will start out as wet base snow and end with powder towards the end of the weekend. The storm door is open and winter is finally on the way!"
*Have a Restricted Pass?
Sierra-at-Tahoe is honoring all passes this weekend, so come on up to Sierra if you have a restricted pass and enjoy some holiday ski/ride time.
*Sports Basement Rocking With 20% Discount!
